Durham Young Professionals presented its inaugural Bull's Eye awards this past week. The awards recognized organizations that are committed to the development of young professionals, adapts work-life friendly policies, values generational differences and institutes attraction and retention initiatives for young talent.

The awards also recognized young professionals who are making a difference in the business community.

The 2010 winners were:

* Best Places for Young Professors to Work: iContact, McKinney, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Greeting Express, Bull City Forward

* Young Professional of the Year: Clay Harris of WorkSmart

* Young Entrepreneur of the Year: Jamie Patterson, Subject 2 Change


* Young Professional Mentor of the Year: Michelle Gonzales, SeeSaw Studio

Jamie L. Patterson wins “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” award from Durham Chamber of Commerce


Durham, NC December 15, 2010 – Mr. Jamie LaMont Patterson was recently awarded the “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” award by the Durham Chamber of Commerce. Patterson co-owns "Subject 2 Change Custom Apparel Design Company" in Durham, North Carolina with his partner, Nykia Elvy (B.S. Duke 2002, MBA Fordham 2009). Their company offers original, imaginative style and design options to those with unique apparel and promotional product needs.

His company has also been selected to be the official apparel provider for North Carolina Central University’s “The Marching Sound Machine” Band trip to Pasadena, California for the 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade. Dr. Jorim Reid and the band has selected Caps, Polos, 4 different t-shirts and a Warm up suit for their week long trip. Subject 2 Change has made a donation of Carry-All tote bags for all the band members and staff.

Jamie is a native of Red Springs, NC. He graduated from Red Springs High, class of 1995 and attended North Carolina Central University for his Undergraduate degree in Sport Management (2000) as well as his Master's degree in Athletic Administration (2002). Patterson is active with the Beta Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., the Professional Division of Phi Beta Lambda Inc., The Executive Board of the North Carolina Central University Alumni Association and he serves as the President of the Purple Champion Hospitality Group.
