Durham to host 2014 Triple-A All-Star Game

2014 Triple-A All-Star Game

The Durham Bulls are thrilled to announce that we'll be the host of the 2014 Triple-A All-Star Game! The 27th annual Triple-A All-Star Game will take place on July 16, 2014 and will be nationally televised on MLB Network. It will serve as the centerpiece of a five-day celebration that will make the Triangle the focal point of the Minor League Baseball world.

Since the game began between the International and Pacific Coast Leagues in 1988, 77 Triple-A All-Stars have gone on to play in the Major League All-Star Game, including Derek Jeter, Chipper Jones, Pedro Martinez, Mike Piazza, Chase Utley and Joey Votto. This will be your chance to see them live in your backyard, before you see them on the national stage.

But this isn't just one game – it's a can't-miss five-day event honoring our National Pastime – and it all will take place right here in the Triangle, home of America's Favorite Minor League Team. From an All-Star Fan Fest to a Home Run Derby featuring Minor League Baseball's most iconic home run target, you won't want to miss a second of this once-in-a-generation celebration. Thanks again Subject 2 Change!!!

HAPPY I HEART ME DAY!!

Mostly a "holiday" of forced exchanges of chocolate and flowers, Valentine's Day frustrations and woes seem to have conquered this crazy little thing called love, but I'm using this Valentine's Day to empower youth and give back to the community.  Last year I launched a project of using three simple words: "I Heart Me" and affixed this mantra onto t-shirts and totes. Instead of waiting for Cupid to shoot his arrow, I've decided to remind those in the community the power that can only come from loving yourself.

It's my way of turning Valentine's Day from a collision of expectations and realities, more so to a day in which people can still celebrate even if they didn't have a so-called "Valentine".
Instead of chocolates I will be giving out I Heart Me bags to not only empower these young kids but to encourage them too. My I Heart Me bags will consist of a note of encouragement along with a custom made t-shirt.  This year I'm launching "Know Your Worth" which is another mantra I hope can promote self worth & boost self-confidence.
In light of the overwhelming success of last year's project, I look forward to empowering today's youth with the I Heart Me Project. I invite you to participate and spread the love this Valentine's Day in your communities.
